Mobile Suits are vehicle variations that follow the
rules for vehicle combat/creation. The smallest of mobile suits are of the Huge size classification and tend to be mass produced.
There is no upward cap of how large a mobile suit can be, but given their typical application no mobile suits larger than
colossal has been documented to date, primarily due to the piloting restrictions, that is, mobile suits are usually designed
to be piloted by a single pilot. Few have been designed to operate with 2 pilots.
The role of a mobile suit is generally
similar to that of a weapons platform. While some models can move quite fast, the reason you'd typically favor a mobile suit
over a star fighters is generally low speed maneuvering. They tend to be more fragile and harder to maintain while also sporting
fewer weapons. Certain specialized models deviate from this generalization, most notably the mobile suits designated "Gundams,"
though the Gundams were all advanced prototypes.
One advantage of mobile suits is their generally high Intelligence.
Unless specifically noted, mobile suits have no cargo space or consumables. In addition, EP must be spent to upgrade a mobile
suit to be made space grade and/or flight capable.
One other advantage of the mobile suit is the general ease that the pilot can obtain new weapons or bypass the need to
invest EP in weapons. Mobile suits are typically modeled after the human body in shape and utility, including hands and feet.
Therefore, mobile suits may engage in 'unarmed' combat as well as use weapons with external power sources such as specially
created lightsabers and laser rifles. Only integrated equipment uses the suit's EP. To create a weapon suitable to the starship
scale that mobile suits engage in, just take an existing character scale weapon and add a x2 multiplier. The cost of such
a weapon is x10 and replacement ammunition is x50. All items are limited by availability.
The following upgrades can
be used on any vehicle, not just mobile suits. Only the Real Movement upgrade would be out of place on another vehicle.
Flight capable- May fly at movement rate. At starship scale, all units with this have 2 speed.
Space/Water Grade- May operate in vacuum and move at starship scale. Requires Flight capability to
move in space. Otherwise the vehicle is treated as having 0 speed in space.
Real movement- The mobile
suit's cockpit is replaced by armor (similar to a combat jumpsuit) that responds to pilot's movement in real time. This armor
is suspended at launch so the pilot doesn't need to move within the cockpit in order to move the mobile suit. A side effect
of this system is that the pilot is always considered trained in Pilot effectively in a very large suit of powered armor,
and takes a -2 Armor Check Penalty if not proficient with Light Armor. Pilots with this upgrade may use appropriate feats
and talents associated with character scale variations of the equiped weapons, for example lightsaber forms, Weapon specialist
talents. Otherwise, all mobile suit weapons not mounted on the mobile suit are considered as not compatible with any such
feats or talents. Mounted weapons are considered Heavy/Starship weapons for the purpose of feats and talents.
Gundamian
Hull- Increase the DR of the vessel by 10
The creator has not stated it but for now I would limit the Mobile Suits to 1 day consumables unless they spend the EP
for more.
